Jamie is a landscape artist based in the fens of East Cambridgeshire, UK. Originally from West Norfolk, he moved to East Cambridgeshire aged 18 with his family and started working within the reprographics industry. After redundancy he was given the opportunity to train as a CAD Technician for Consulting Structural Engineers in Cambridge, a job which enabled him to gain an Civil Engineering qualification. Illness meant a change in job after 7 years, and a few years later he found himself working for the National Trust as a Premises Manager. All through this time he enjoyed painting as a hobby, selling a few paintings each year a completing commissions for friends and families.
Unfortunately illness struck again, and after 4 years with the National Trust he had to leave his job, unable to work full-time. At this point in June 2015 the decision was made to focus on art - was it possible to make a living from this? Unable to work for more than 10 hours per week after a diagnosis of M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Jamie has now started to work more consistently whilst balancing living with a chronic illness. It's not easy, but he is able to balance his time and health needs working as his own boss. So long as he doesn't need firing...….
Jamie has previously exhibited with The Darryl Nantais Gallery, Linton; The Babylon Gallery, Ely; Cambridge Open Studios, and currently with The George Farnham Gallery, Saxmundham.
